[Finished] Operation Deadly Love
  • Jae-Hyun
  • I sat in the interrogation room, along with my lawyer, as we discussed how we could move forward. ‘I don’t care how much I need to pay, just get me out of here,’ I said, a little angrily.
  • ‘I will try my best Mr. Kim, but really and truly it depends on what they have,’ he began. ‘What the hell had you been thinking though shooting at a cop? Have you lost your mind?’ my lawyer, Mr. Suk asked as he yelled while whispering.
  • ‘I panicked,’ I mumbled as I shrugged. ‘If that * didn’t show up on my door at nine o’clock, banging and screaming police, I wouldn’t have shot anyone,’ I said angrily.
  • ‘Mr. Kim,’ Mr. Suk began but the door opened, forcing him to close his mouth and stand up. I looked at the two police officers from earlier. The male still had a *ed off look on his face while the female looked like a pretentious * as she smirked cockily.
  • ‘Aish Jungkook, we’ve had such a busy day, didn’t we?’ she asked as she sat down, completely ignoring my lawyer who was ready to shake hands.
  • ‘You could say that again, then this prick decided to go and shoot cops. *, right?’ the one named Jungkook said as he shook his head and sat down as well.
  • My lawyer cleared his throat as he sat down. ‘I’m Mr. Suk, Mr.Kim’s attorney. Officers, I would like—’ he began, but quickly got cut off.
  • ‘It’s Detectives actually,’ the woman said. ‘How rude of us, we didn’t even introduce ourselves,’ the woman said as she gave a fake apologetic look to the lawyer.
  • ‘I’m Detective Jeon Jungkook and this is my partner Detective Yang Misun, also team leader of Bangtan,’ Jungkook said.
  • ‘Bangtan? What the hell is that supposed to be?’ I asked with a scoff, unimpressed by the title.
  • ‘I’m really glad you asked Mr. Kim. You see Bangtan is a new project made up of a number of very, very skilled people to catch *s like you who think they can get away with murder,’ Misun said. I could see Jungkook look on, almost with a proud look on his face. Stupid.
  • ‘Ma’am, I will ask you to not throw accusations at my client without any basis,’ Mr. Suk said quickly. ‘Yes, my client shot at you but he did so because you came on his property late at night and he panicked,’ Mr. Suk said.
  • ‘He didn’t have to panic unless he has something to hide,’ Jungkook said as he leaned forward.
  • ‘Besides, who said, we’re accusing without a basis?’ Misun asked as she smirked. ‘We would not dare to do such a thing Mr. Suk,’ she said. She nodded and the door opened, revealing another man.
  • ‘Misun, here’s the report you asked for, regarding the gun,’ he said.
  • ‘Thank you Hoseok,’ Misun said as she took the envelope. Hoseok gave a slight bow and left the room.
  • ‘What do we have partner?’ Jungkook asked as he leaned back against the chair while he crossed his arms. I felt my heart start to accelerate and sweat starting to come out.
  • ‘Let’s see,’ Misun said as she ripped open the envelope and pulled out a paper. Her smile grew bigger as she put the report down. ‘Do you know what this says gentlemen?’ she asked.
  • Jungkook
  • I watched as Misun grew more confident. The more I saw her today, the more I could see why she was appointed as team leader. She was smart, confident and knew how to get under their skin while remaining calm and collected.
  • I watched as Mr. Kim began to sweat as she asked her question. ‘Do you?’ she asked again, taunting him. She looked like such a different person as she did so. She was so different with him than how she was with Mrs. Kim earlier this morning.
  • ‘Ma’am can you get to the point please?’ Mr. Suk asked. The poor lawyer seemed like he was already dreading this.
  • ‘You see it tells us that the gun you used to shoot me with, is the same gun that was used on your brother and Han-Gyeol,’ she said. ‘Ballistics matched Mr. Kim,’ she added.
  • ‘So that means, we have the murder weapon and key evidence Mr. Kim,’ I said while he gulped.
  • ‘But that’s not all we have, is it Jungkook?’ Misun asked.
  • ‘Nope,’ I said, popping the ‘p’. ‘You see, you were a bit of an *, going into a taxi. You probably thought that your car would be recognized because of the number plate, but so can taxis. Our colleague interviewed the taxi driver who drove you back home and guess what, he identified you as the one he collected from the same hotel,’ I explained.
  • ‘That means, we have you placed in the same location and at time of the murder. Oh and also, some other guests confirmed you were at the dinner party as well,’ Misun explained.
  • ‘That’s circumstantial Ma’am. Yes, he was at the party but took a taxi home. Doesn’t mean he’s the one who did it,’ his lawyer said.
  • Before he could continue, there was a knock on the door. ‘Come in,’ Misun said. The door opened, revealing Taehyung and Jimin. ‘Did you find anything?’ she asked.
  • ‘Ohh we found plenty,’ Jimin said as he put a bag on the table. I could see both of them smirking.
  • ‘Let’s see. This feels like Christmas morning, opening presents, doesn’t it Jungkook?’ she aske as she stood up.
  • ‘It sure does,’ I said as Misun pulled out a hotel key card and turned to the others.
  • ‘What’s that supposed to be?’ Mr. Kim asked, pretending no to know. He was sweating all over.
  • ‘That’s the missing key card that would open the door to our vics’ room at the hotel, but you already knew that right Mr. Kim?’ she asked.
  • He gulped but didn’t say anything. ‘Mr. Kim Jae-Hyun, you were at the hotel for the dinner, but had not booked a room and thus did not have the need to have a card,’ Taehyung explained.
  • Misun nodded as her face lit up just as he pulled out the shoes. ‘Ahh here they are,’ she said.
  • ‘Correct me if I am wrong, but didn’t we say that there are only six of these and that our murderer used one of them?’ I asked.
  • ‘Yep, and you know what else?’ Taehyung asked as he pointed to it
  • ‘It even has specks of blood which I’m sure the forensic analyst is going to match to our vics,’ Jimin said.
  • ‘Aish, things don’t look too good for you Mr. Kim. We have plenty of evidence, a witness, no alibi, tsk,’ Misun said, shaking her head.
  • ‘You better talk if you want to make things a little easier for you,’ I said.
  • ‘You don’t have to say anything,’ Mr. Suk quickly said but the look on Jae-Hyun’s face was enough to let us know he was guilty.
  • ‘Maybe but either way, we know you’re guilty and you’re going to rot in a cell,’ Misun said.
  • YES! YES I KILLED THEM!!’ he screamed suddenly. ‘My brother was always the favourite one. Everyone always preferred him – my father, our cousins, our family friends, that * of a wife of his. I loved his wife but she never gave a damn about me even if her husband was having an affair. She actually encouraged that *!’ Jae-Hyuk said, banging his fist against the table.
  • ‘Mr. Kim stop!’ Mr. Suk said, his voice raising but Mr. Kim had snapped. He shook his head and laughed, almost maniacally.
  • ‘That wasn’t enough though! He was turning our company into a joke! He was turning it into some sort of charity case and somehow, because he was popular, he was still getting more money while I continued to fail, no matter how hard I worked,’ he screamed.
  • ‘So you thought what? That you had a right to go and shoot them?’ I asked in disbelief.
  • ‘He deserved it. They both did, they were taking everything from me,’ he yelled back.
  • ‘Wow, talk about a clear case of delusional,’ Jimin commented.
  • ‘We’re done here Mr. Kim. We’ll see you in court, where I assure you, you will pay for your crimes,’ Misun said as she stood up.
  • I watched as the lawyer was escorted out by Taehyung and Jimin while I stood up. ‘I’ll also make sure to mention how you shut my partner, *,’ I said, whispering the last bit.
  • Misun and I walked outside where the rest of the team was. ‘Well done everyone. We closed off our first case,’ Misun said, seemingly proud.
  • ‘Well we had a good leader,’ Hoseok commented, with a big smile.
  • ‘Yeah. I have to agree with that. I think one of the reasons we worked so well together considering we just met, is the fact you guided us well,’ Namjoon commented.
  • ‘Aish shut up you two,’ Misun said, giggling a bit, while her cheeks reddened a bit.
  • ‘Yah! She’s a shy one when it comes to compliments!’ Jimin teased as he lightly hit her, hitting her chest. She winced slightly and his smile instantly faded. ‘*, sorry, I forgot,’ he said.
  • ‘Don’t worry about it,’ she replied. ‘I know it’s very late considering it’s almost midnight and we need to write reports and *, but that’s work for tomorrow. How do you all feel about getting some food?’ she asked.
  • ‘I’m down for it,’ Taehyung said as Jimin nodded as well, showing a thumbs up.
  • ‘Me too,’ I said as she gave a small smile. ‘How about you guys?’ I asked.
  • ‘As much as I like to accept and come join you, I’ll have to skip this one. I’m sure my wife Hana is still up working and waiting for me and would like to see my son as well,’ Jin said.
  • ‘Of course,’ Misun replied as she looked at Yoongi who looked at us sheepishly.
  • ‘Same goes for me I’m afraid. I want to go home to my wife and daughter,’ he said.
  • ‘Eunji would be waiting for me too, ready to hear al about today,’ Hoseok said with a grin.
  • ‘And Boram’s shift is ending in thirty minutes so I was planning on meeting her at the hospital,’ Namjoon said.
  • ‘Not a problem guys. I know you have family waiting for you. Joon, ride with us. We’ll drop you at the hospital,’ she said.
  • ‘Are you sure?’ Namjoon asked as she nodded.
  • ‘Of course,’ I replied. ‘Do you guys need a ride too?’ I asked, but they shook their heads. I smiled as we all got going.
